Additional Troops Arriving For Election Process: Police
Srinagar, February 23: Jammu and Kashmir police while responding to the panicky situation in Kashmir today said that the additional forces were called for the election purpose while arrests of some leaders and activists were a move to prevent any disturbance in the election process.
“We don’t see any reason other than the one that additional troops are being brought for the poll process,” a top police office told .
He said that election commission team was arriving in Kashmir on March 5 to assess the situation and to take a call on holding polls.
“So we took some measures to ensure peaceful elections,” he said.
Around 30 Jamaat-e-Islami leaders including its chief Dr Hameed Fayaz were detained by the police in nocturnal raids while as JKLF Chief Muhammad Yasin Malik was detained late on Friday evening.
