Besides witnesses, CCTV footage, clothes of accused, seized vehicles to be examined by court as a part of prosecution evidence

Srinagar, Feb 22: Accused Sajid Altaf in Srinagar acid case was wearing black jacket which has acid traces, reveals charge sheet.
Srinagar Police Tuesday filed a charge sheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar against two persons accused Sajid Altaf Sheikh and Mohamad Saleem Kumar in a recent Srinagar acid attack case.
The offences as mentioned in charge sheet are exclusively triable by Sessions Court.
Police, in its charge sheet which consists around 1000-pages, has submitted documentary evidences.
It includes calls details of he accused, their locations they have met (to hatch conspiracy), list of over fifty prosecution witnesses, exhibits including clothes of victim.
The accused was wearing black jacket at the time of commission of crime and the traces of suplhuric acid was found by FSL team on his clothes, reveals charge sheet.
The Police, as per charge sheet, has also seized two vehicles; scooty and a light motor vehicle. Scooty was used for the commission of crime.
The finger prints collected has also matched as per FSL report, which is part of charge sheet.
The FSL team has also taken the samples wherein, as per charge sheet, the traces of sulphuric acid was found on the scooty, which was used for the commission of crime, on the clothes of victim, accused and disposable glass.
The Police has also obtained CCTV wherein accused has been captured.
Disposable glass and other some material, as per charge sheet, was recovered which was allegedly used to throw acid has also been recovered on the “confessional statement” of the accused.
On the confession of main accused Sajid Altaf, other accused in the case were arrested.
The Police also filed a separate challan against juvenile before Juvenile Justice Board Srinagar and submitted that juvenile may be tried as an adult for the “heinous offence.”
The Police has sought punishment for the accused for the offences voluntary throwing acid to cause grievous injury, and, criminal conspiracy, which if proved can get the accused a punishment of rigorous imprisonment for minimum ten years which may extend upto life imprisonment.
Taking the cognizance of charge sheet, the CJM Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Bhat said that perusal of the challan reveals that the accused are alleged to have committed the offence under section 326-A, 120-B IPC and the case is exclusively triable by the Court of Sessions Judge.
All the accused are under judicial custody and were produced before the court today.
Soon after the incident, given the heinous nature of the crime, SSP Srinagar had immediately formed a Special investigation team with SP North Raja Zuhaib as Chairman and SDPO Khanyar, SHO Nowhatta, SHO Safakadal and SHO Women Police Station as members leading to the arrest of the three accused and completion of investigation within shortest possible time.
