ACB arrests Sarpnach from Anantnag for accepting bribe
Srinagar, Feb 16 : Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Wednesday trapped and arrested a Sarpanch from Khulchohar village of Anantnag district for accepting bribe of Rs 6,500 for approving work files related to works executed by the complainant.
A statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads that Anti-Corruption Bureau received a complaint, wherein the complainant alleged that Sarpanch Khulchohar, District Anantnag Hafiza Begum, wife of Ghulam Qadir Kumar of Kulhchohar, Block Shangus, Anantnag has demanded Rs 6500 on account of approving work files related to works executed under MGNREGA, 14 FC and SBM through the office of BDO Shangus.
“Upon receiving the instant complaint prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out. Consequently, case FIR No. 03/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Anantnag.”
“Subsequently, a trap team was constituted. The trap team caught Hafiza Begum W/o Ghulam Qadir Kumarof Kulhchohar, Block Shangus, Anantnag while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 6500 from the complainant. She was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team. The bribe money was also recovered from her possession in presence of independent witnesses,” ACB said, adding that further investigations of the case is going on—(KNO)
