“A Lifeline of Hope”: J&K Police Helpline Brings Relief, Justice to Terror Victims
Srinagar | July 15, 2025
In a bold and compassionate move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched a dedicated helpline for victims of terrorism—offering a beacon of hope, justice, and swift assistance to those most affected by violence and tragedy. This initiative, run through the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, is being widely applauded as a powerful step toward healing, empowerment, and accountability.
The helpline is designed to support individuals facing issues such as:
• Non-registration of FIRs in terrorism-related cases.
• Non-receipt of government compensation and aid intended for terror victims.
Citizens can reach out to the helpline by calling 0194-2506548 or 7889-373200 between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM on working days. Additionally, written grievances can be submitted through email at pcrsgrff@jkpolice.gov.in.
This service is already making a difference. A widow from Pulwama, who had been waiting for over a year for financial assistance under the government’s compensation scheme, finally received her entitled aid after contacting the helpline—bringing critical support to her struggling family.
In another case, a displaced family from Anantnag, who had lost their home to terrorist violence, was assisted with long-overdue rehabilitation support after reaching out through the helpline.
This initiative is just one example of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s ongoing commitment to the people. From neutralizing threats in the 2024 Baramulla encounter to conducting medical outreach camps in the remote villages of Kupwara, the force has consistently demonstrated a balance of strength and compassion.
“This helpline is more than just a number—it’s a message to the people that they are not alone,” said Advocate Naseer Ahmad, a well-known human rights lawyer. “It’s a lifeline for the ignored, a channel of justice for the forgotten.”
By bridging the gap between victims and the system, this helpline underscores the police force’s evolving role—from enforcers of law to protectors of dignity and rights. It’s a model of citizen-first policing, and a step that strengthens the social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police deserve heartfelt appreciation for this initiative, which stands as a shining example of humane governance and responsible law enforcement.
