13 Dead, 17 Injured In Poonch Road Mishap; DC Says Five Injured Airlifted To Jammu Hospital, Guv Announces Ex-Gratia Relief
Srinagar, Dec 08: At least 13 passengers were killed while 17 others sustained injuries in a deadly road mishap at t Plera area of Poonch in Jammu division today.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Rahul Yadav while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) informed that the bodies of all 13 passengers who died in a deadly mishap today have been recovered.
He said that 17 persons have sustained injuries in the mishap while five among them have been airlifted to Jammu hospital for specialized treatment.
Yadav further said that the accident occurred after a passenger bus bearing registration number JK02W-0445 skidded off a road and plunged into a deep gorge Plera near Kalarpella in the district when it was on its way from Loran to Poonch.
He said that rescue and search operation was started immediately after the incident occurred and the operation after evacuating all the injured persons and recovering the dead bodies has ended.
Meanwhile, DC Poonch further informed that Governor Satya Pal Malik has announced Rs 5 lakh each to the kith and kin of those who died in the mishap while Rs 15000 have been announced for the injured persons. (KNS)
