Director Agriculture Kashmir Inaugurates Farmer Outreach Program at Kalaroos Kupwara

Amid prevailing climatic scenario department working on a supplementary plan/DAK

Srinagar/19-04-2022/ continuing the events under the theme of Kharif Campaign 2022, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhry Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated farmer outreach program at Kalaroos Kupwara.

​The program was attended by Vice Chairman DDC Kupwara Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir, DDC Kalaroos Mustafa Rahi, BDC Kalaroos Mushtaq Ahmad, ADDC Kupwara Mohammad Altaf Khan, representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions, Deputy Director Planning Mohammad Younis Chowdhary, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara Nazir Ahmad Wani, Potato Development Officer Kashmir Naseer Ahmad Lonebesides other senior officers, field functionaries of the department and a huge gathering of farmers.

​Speaking on the occasion Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal said the farmer outreach program is a valley wide initiative to reach the farming community at their doorsteps, raise awareness among the farmers with respect to different central sponsored schemes and get feedback regarding the successful implementation of these schemes. Awareness plays an important role in achieving the goal of effective implementation of a particular program that is the reason the farmer outreach initiative has been designed to maximize the awareness and sensitize the farming community about the programs and flagship schemes being implemented by the department he said and added.

​Director Agriculture said amidst prevailing climate scenario department is working on a supplementary plan to safe guard the interests of farming community of region. He said the cropping systems should be in line with the climatic conditions and economic sustainability. He exhorted upon the farming community to diversify the farming operations.

Director Agriculture impressed upon the officers/officials to work shoulder to shoulder with the farming community for the successful implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes, flagship programs.

​During the interactive session Vice chairman DDC Kupwara and other dignitaries expressed their views during their programs.

​Earlier director agriculture participated in the paddy seed sowing operations and visited the areas of the district, interacted with the farmers and took stock of various ongoing agricultural activities.
