Srinagar, Jun 21: Most of the people across J&K are happy with the decision of BJP, ending alliance with PDP. The reason are many but the first and foremost two reasons, people cite are : “end of unholy alliance” and “present Governor NN Vohra.”
Experts do have their opinions about this big political breakup but what matters most is common man in J&K is happy with this development.
“It was unholy from day one. People in Jammu were not happy with BJP while people in Kashmir were not happy with PDP because of this coalition. They only bad thing is that they took long time for this divorce,” said Bashir Ahmad of Kokernag Anantnag.
People at large are also satisfied with the presence of Governor NN Vohra who had proved his pro-people and welfare decisions in past when Governor rule was imposed.
“NN Vohra had been the interlocutor, met hundreds of people, walked on ground, visited around every district of the state. He has finger on the pulse and know what to do and how to do in public interest,” said Javaid Ahmad of Srinagar.
People are happy with the decision of government of India for extending the term of Governor Vohra for next three months whose term actually was coming to end in 2018 June end.
Professor Arham said that “Governor Vorha is most favorite to people in Kashmir than the elected government. It would be in public interest if the term of this great person is extended for next five years,” he added.
He said that in case government of India wants to not give any further extension to his term in September 2018, “then the best choice to replace him with is Dineshwar Sharma who has also now vast experience as he walked on ground, talked to people and know what and how people want things to go.”
Similarly, a group of scholars at Kashmir University said that governor must also focus on empowering local youth. “We are happy Vohra Sahab is our governor given the past experience we have of his administration. This time we want him to do something also for local youth,” they said.
“Our opinion is that he should continue as Governor. We want Dineshwar Sharma to be our next governor.”(With inputs from district reporters)
