Sarpanch Arrested With Heroin Consignment In Rajouri
RAJOURI: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a Sarpanch with consignment of narcotics in Rajouri district on Friday.
The arrested person is a Sarpanch of a panchayat near Line of Control (LoC) as well as an advocate in Jammu.
In a press conference, Superintendent of Police Sheema N Qasba told that a team of Sunderbani police station during vehicle frisking duty on August 26, at Sunderbani on Jammu Rajouri highway, intercepted a Tata Indigo Car JK02B 2493.
“During frisking of said vehicle, a consignment measuring 690 grams of Heroin like substance was recovered, which was seized,” said SP Rajouri said.
The arrested person has been identified as Liyaquat Ali son of Mohd Rasheed resident of Doongi Bharamana village, District Rajouri.
“A case FIR No. 79/2021 under sections 8/21/22 of NDPS Act has been registered in Sunderbani police station and further investigation is going on to unearth all the links connected with the arrested man in smuggling of Narcotics,” the SP said. (KNO)
