Awareness programme on Avian Influenza held at Shopian
SHOPIAN, FEBRUARY 15: The Animal Husbandry Office, Shopian today organised an Awareness Programme on Prevention, Control and Containment of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) at Mini Secretariat, here.
The Awareness programme was organised under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse.
While addressing the gathering, Suse said that no instance of Avian Influenza has been found in Shopian district so far and added that it is collective responsibility of all the departments to fight together against the virus and tackle the situation to control upon the flu in case of its outbreak.
He further exhorted upon the concerned departments including Municipal Committee, Shopian for proper sanitization wherever necessary and to keep close vigil on the situation in case of any eventuality.
He emphasized upon the concerned department to work with added zeal and zest to control the outbreak of flu to get rid of the situation completely. He said people need not to worry as the district administration is taking every necessary step to curb the disease completely.
Earlier, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer apprised the meeting about the district action plan and the role of each concerned department in case of outbreak of bird flu. He said that rapid response teams have been framed to put immediate control upon the flu in case of its outbreak.
He assured the participants that all possible measures have been adopted by the Animal Husbandry Department to keep the flu at bay.
Experts, Doctors, Assistant Veterinary Surgeons and other concerned officers of the department also spoke on the occasion.
Among others Chief Planning Officer, Shopian, Sub District Magistrate, Zainapora, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Shopian, Chief Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Veterinary Surgeons, Experts besides concerned officers and officials from allied departments were present on the occasion.
