Cop arrested by police in Baramulla, ‘Teachers are more interested in education than ugly politics’
Baramulla, Dec 12: An Independent female Panch (name withheld) has lodged a complaint at police post Delina Baramulla that she was taken out from her residence by a cop and two Education Department employees during night.
On her compliant police arrested a cop identified as Irshad Ahmad a resident of Kandi Baramulla.
While divulging information about the incident, police sources told news agency KNT that a female Panchayat member filed a complaint against trio including a policeman for allegedly threatening her to abstain from voting in the ongoing District Development Council elections in north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The woman Panch member from Block Hudipora, belonging to Frasdab has in her complaint before Police post Delina (Baramulla) stated that three persons, one of them brandishing a pistol, approached her last night asking her to abstain from DDC election voting.
The complainant has mentioned the names of one Manzoor Ahmad Dar, a civilian, Iqbal Ahmad, a Government teacher by profession and Irshad Ahmad Wani, a policeman.
“We have taken the cognizance of the complaint and registered a case. An FIR vide number 214/2020 under sections 506, 354 B, 452 has been registered in this regard and investigation has been set into motion,” said a police official on condition of anonymity to KNT.
DDC elections in Kashmir Valley are in news for wrong reasons. Even those candidates are contesting who barely know ABC of these elections and can’t utter the full form of DDC polls.
Pertinently, mother of one of the accused is also contesting in these elections. (KNT)
