Drug peddler allegedly commits suicide in police station in Sopore
Sopore, Nov 05: A 28-year-old suspected drug peddler allegedly committed suicide inside a police station lock-up in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday night.
Zamrood Ahmad Gojri son of Ghulam Mohammad Gojree a resident of Hygam Putkha was arrested by police team along with large quantity of illegal drugs last week.
A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that he was caught with (200 capsules of Spasmoprovian) last week, the officer said in this regard a case FIR number 110/2020 U/S 8/22 NPDS act produced before judicial magistrate and was remanded upto 15/11/2020.
Police sources informed that the accused was found hanging inside the lock-up on Wednesday night.
He was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, he added.
Pertinently, drug menace has consumed many lives in Sopore.
As per official figure around 12 youth lost their lives due to overdose of drugs this year sofar. (KD)
