Hizb Posters Warn Against Participation In I-Day Function
Srinagar: Posters by Hizbul Mujahideen, “giving last warning to those trying to crush the freedom spirit among masses,” have gone viral on social media.
The posters also appeared in few places in Srinagar, and warn those who sent their children to functions organized by government or forces in connection with August 15, marking India’s Independence Day.
The posters are signed by Hizbul Mujahideen district commander Srinagar Abu Irfan and says that there would be no “other warning” and asked those “siding with the occupier” to “repent and seek forgiveness”.
“The second (next) poster will unmask all those people with their names and photographs and expose them (before) the general public,” the poster reads.
“… it has come to our knowledge that certain people have taken the side of the oppressor and have left no stone unturned in oppressing, harassing and torturing their own brethren in Islam for some petty benefits and have sold their faith and hereafter for the temporary worldly benefits,” it said.
“We want to tell these brothers to refrain from the activities which they know well they are doing, and start working for the betterment of our own oppressed nation. After this warning, there would be no other warning.”
The poster added, “While on one side, the people of our nation are offering selfless sacrifices for the pious cause of freedom, it is unfortunate that some black-sheep in our nation are siding with the occupier thus betraying the pious blood of martyrs. We assure the freedom and peace-loving people (that) anyone who tries to betray the pious blood of martyrs will be taken to task.”
“Let people not take our morality as our weakness we have got the names of people who are hand in glove with Indian intelligence agencies and are working to crush the freedom spirit among the masses, but this time we are sparing them and giving them a chance to repent. The second poster will unmask all those people with their names and photographs and expose them (before) the general public.”
Hizb also asked the parents not to send their wards for the Independence Day celebrations “of India which has occupied our nation (for the) last 70 years” saying, “The school or college heads who are forcing our brothers and sisters to participate in such events must know that they have to answer before the people who have offered everything for this pious cause.”
“We cannot tolerate anything which goes against the spirit of freedom and Islam. Thus, we are providing a last chance to all these people to refrain from doing this and seek forgiveness else we too have our own ways to deal with all this,” the outfit said. “Don’t we owe any respect to all those students who were showered with bullets and pellets by Indian forces? Think well and then choose the side.” The veracity of posters could not be verified independently even as police also feigned ignorance about them having appeared in any part of the city.
“There is no information about such posters having appeared in any part of the city. We will still verify,” a senior police officer said.
Asked about the posters having going viral on social media, the officer said: “We will look into it and there are enough security measures in place and as such, there is nothing to worry about”. (GNS)
