Gunfight Rages In Srinagar, One SOG Man Killed, One JKP And Two CRPF Men Sustained Injuries

Internet services suspended in Srinagar

Srinagar: A SOG man was killed, one JKP and two CRPF men sustained injuries in a gunfight at Deyarwani area of Batamalo in Srinagar district on Sunday.

Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of Police and CRPF cordoned off Deyarwni area of Batamaloo late last night.

A senior police officer said that the cordon was launched in the area following specific inputs about the presence of the militants.

While the cordon was laid around the targeted house the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering off an encounter, he said.

The officer said that one SOG Killed, one JKP and two CRPF men sustained injuries in the gunfire.

When reports last came in the exchange of firing has been stopped and searches were going on.

Meanwhile authorities also suspended internet services in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. (GNS)
