Drug De Addiction Centre IMHANS-K observes International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking:
Several webinars, TV, Radio programs were organised to create awareness on problems of Drug Abuse.
Drug De Addiction Centre IMHANS-K, on 26th June observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking with the theme “ Better Knowledge for Better Care”.
It is pertinent to mention that IMHANS-K has carried a pilot study to find the contours of substance abuse in two districts ( Srinagar and Anantnag) in collaboration with World Vision of India.
Dr Yasir Rather, An Associate Professor, In charge DDC IMHANS-K is a proponent of the study, titled “ Pattern and prevalence of Substance use and dependence in Kashmir with special Focus on opioids “.
All the webinars, TV, Radio programs were conducted under the guidance of Dr Yasir Rather.
The webinars were organised as a measure to generate awareness on the problem of drug abuse and the participants from all sections of society attended the webinars especially Student Community.
Amid the COVID situation and taking care of all the SOPs and reaching to large percentage of population, Dr Yasir Rather Talked on the Drug abuse, Systematic treatment and Policy with The valley’s most listened FMs 92.7, 103.5, with a viewership of more than 1 Million.
Furthermore, Dr Insha Senior Resident IMHANS-K , Sameer Ahmad Khan PSW DDC IMHANS-K were the Resource Persons in one of the webinar which was organised by a Think tank Organisation in collaboration with Cultural wing of Chief Education Office Baramulla. The Resource Person’s dealt with various aspects of drug abuse, it’s Medical Relief, Recovery and Rehabilitation Policy. Syed Mujtaba, Rights Campaigner highlighted the Key points of Rehabilitation policy and prevention model.
Whereas Masood Maqbool – Lecturer at IMHANS-K was the main Resource person in another webinar “ Use and Abuse of Drugs “ which was organised by Department of Psychology, Govt Degree College for women Baramulla, wherein Masood stressed upon the understanding and identifying the signs and symptoms among the users and importance of awareness on the Drug Abuse.
While interacting with the media persons, Dr Yasir highlighted the role of media in the awareness of drug Abuse and assured that the effective and target population oriented webinars, programs Will remain continue.
