Amid lockdown woman delivers baby in police van in Jammu

Srinagar: A woman delivered a baby inside a police van while she was being transported to a hospital in Channi Himmat area of Jammu last night, police said today.

“During the intervening night 11/12-04-2020, a distress call was received from PCR Jammu that one Lady Namely Sonia Devi W/O Raj Kumar R/O Birache Utter Pradesh A/P Sec. No. 3 Channi Himmat Jammu is pregnant and suffering from labour pain and due to lockdown their is no means of transportation/convenience to reach at the hospital,” said a police spokesman.

“Acting swiftly on the information, a police party of Police Station Channi Himmat was rushed to the spot and took the said lady to the hospital in a police van,” he added. While on way to the hospital, the woman gave birth to a child inside the van.
