Several arrested for attending militant’s funeral in Sopore

Srinagar: Police in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have arrested several persons for defying lockdown imposed in view of Covid-19 pandemic by attending the last rites of a militant on Wednesday, an official said today.

He said night raids were conducted in Zaingeer area of Sopore in which several persons were held. He said those held had violated the social distancing protocols.

The police in Sopore had earlier lodged a First Information Report (FIR) after a video surfaced in which hundreds of people were seen gathered at the funeral of Jaish militant in Arampora village.
