Bismillah Nawab Bharat Gas Agency Accused of Charging Illegal ₹200 for LPG KYC in Baramulla

Baramulla, April 10:Serious allegations have surfaced against a Bismillah Nawab Bharat Gas agency in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district for allegedly charging ₹200 from customers in the name of KYC for LPG connections. According to complaints, customers were told that the payment was mandatory and were promised a pipeline or related accessory in return.
However, several consumers claim they neither received any such item nor any receipt for the amount paid.
As per norms, KYC for LPG connections is free of cost, raising serious concerns over the legality of such charges. The issue has come to light through video evidence, and affected customers have urged authorities to take strict action against the agency for misleading the public.
Adding to the grievances, the agency—reportedly allotted to serve the far-flung border area of Uri—is operating from Baramulla, nearly 50 kilometers away from its designated service area, causing inconvenience to local residents.
When contacted, State Level Coordinator of HP/BP Gas, Mr. Himanshu, stated that the matter is already under investigation. “We have also received complaints along with video evidence. If anyone is found charging ₹200 for KYC without providing a pipeline, strict action will be taken against the concerned agency,” he said.
He further clarified that a customer is eligible to replace an LPG pipeline after five years. “However, if any gas agency is found collecting money without providing the pipeline, or if an agency is operating outside its allotted area, we will take this issue seriously and initiate necessary action,” he added.
Consumers have appealed to the concerned Oil Marketing Companies to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure accountability.
