70 Indian students, pilgrims stranded in Iran arrive safely in India: JKSA

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Around 70 Indian students, the majority of them from Kashmir, along with several pilgrims stranded in Iran amid the ongoing conflict in the region, safely arrived in India on Sunday on a commercial flight, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) said.

In a statement, JKSA expressed gratitude to External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri for their timely intervention and support in facilitating transit permissions, visa clearances and relocation of the stranded students to safer locations, which helped make their return possible.

The association also thanked Nasir Sogami, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, for arranging AC sleeper buses to facilitate the students’ onward journey from Delhi to their homes in Jammu and Kashmir.

JKSA said the arrangement ensured a smooth and comfortable return for the students who had been stranded due to the war-like situation in the region. — (KIMS)
