Police recover 694 antique coins in Tral, hand over to archeological department
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday recovered 694 antique coin from the Pinglish area of Tral in Pulwama district of South Kashmir during a routine operation.
The recovered coins, believed to be of significant historical and archaeological value, were kept in safe custody under the supervision of SHO Police Station Tral, Inspector Tajamul Islam, police said.
Subsequently, coordination was established with the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology & Museums Jammu and Kashmir to ensure scientific handling and preservation of the coins in accordance with established archaeological norms, they added.
Police said the handover reaffirms their commitment not only to maintaining peace and tranquillity but also to preserving the cultural and archaeological heritage of the Union Territory, while promoting public awareness about Kashmir’s rich historical legacy. — (KIMS)
