Vande Bharat to run between Srinagar—Jammu from March 1

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a major boost to rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, Northern Railway has announced the extension of the Vande Bharat train service up to Jammu Tawi with effect from March 1, 2026.

According to an official notification, the train, which was earlier operating between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Srinagar (SINA), will now run up to Jammu Tawi (JAT), enhancing passenger convenience and regional accessibility.

Railways have also upgraded the existing eight-coach Vande Bharat rake to a 20-coach rake, significantly increasing seating capacity to meet the growing passenger demand on this key route.

The extension is expected to benefit commuters, tourists and pilgrims travelling to the Kashmir Valley, while further strengthening rail connectivity across the Union Territory. — (KIMS)
