SIA Kashmir Files Charge Sheet Against Two for Online Terror Propaganda Linked to Hizbul Mujahideen
Srinagar, February 17, 2026:
The State Investigation Agency (SIA), Kashmir has filed a charge sheet before the competent court against two individuals for their alleged involvement in unlawful and anti-national activities linked to the banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen.
The accused have been identified as Altaf Hussain Wagay of Reban Gund Behram, Shopian, and Shabir Ahmad Sheikh of Rampora, Qaimoh in Kulgam, who is presently operating from across the border.
According to SIA, the case relates to the circulation of anti-national, secessionist, and pro-terrorist content on social media platforms. The material was allegedly aimed at radicalising youth and disturbing public order in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The case was registered as FIR No. 01/2025 at Police Station CIK/SIA Kashmir under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Investigations revealed that Pakistan-based banned terrorist organisations, including Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, along with their proxies and sympathisers, were involved in a coordinated effort to spread anti-India and secessionist propaganda through digital and offline channels.
SIA stated that the campaign was designed to challenge India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, incite disaffection, and radicalise vulnerable youth for furthering terrorist activities.
During the investigation, multiple social media accounts operated under fake identities were traced back to the accused. These accounts were allegedly used to evade law enforcement while promoting secessionist ideology, glorifying terrorism, and attempting to undermine the lawful administrative system.
The agency said further investigation is ongoing to identify other suspects and associates involved in the conspiracy.
SIA Kashmir reiterated its commitment to taking strict legal action against individuals misusing digital platforms to promote terrorism and activities that threaten national security.
