Sopore Police have stepped up their campaign against drug trafficking across Police District Sopore, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iftikhar Talib said in an exclusive interaction with ANN News correspondent Lone Mehraj.
The SSP said that in the last five days, police have registered five separate cases related to drug trafficking and arrested six alleged drug peddlers. A significant quantity of narcotic substances has also been seized during these operations.
He said the ongoing action is part of a larger anti-drug campaign that was launched in 2025 and will continue with full force throughout 2026.
SSP Talib issued a strong warning to those involved in the drug trade, saying that Sopore Police will adopt a zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling.
“Those involved in drug peddling must immediately stop this illegal activity or leave Sopore. There will be no compromise with anyone involved in destroying our society,” he said.
He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police and share information about drug-related activities, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
The police, he said, are committed to protecting the youth and safeguarding society from the growing threat of drug abuse.
