CIK Tightens Noose on Anti-National Propaganda Network, Special NIA Court Issues Proclamation

ANN NEWS

Srinagar: In a significant move against anti-national propaganda and secessionist misinformation, the Hon’ble Court of the Special Judge designated under the NIA Act in Srinagar has issued a proclamation under Section 82 of the Code of Criminal Procedure against accused persons in FIR No. 07/2020 of Counter Intelligence Kashmir.

The case involves serious charges under Sections 153-A and 505 of the IPC, along with Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. It was registered following credible intelligence inputs that pointed to a coordinated conspiracy by anti-national and anti-social elements allegedly working at the behest of secessionist forces operating within and outside the Kashmir Valley.

Investigations revealed that the accused were posing as journalists, freelancers, and news portals while systematically misusing social media platforms including Facebook, X, and WhatsApp. According to investigators, these platforms were used to circulate fake, exaggerated, and deliberately misleading content aimed at inciting street violence, disrupting public order, damaging public property, and creating disaffection against the Union of India.

The probe has firmly established the involvement of three accused:

• Mubeen Ahmad Shah of Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar

• Azizul Hassan Ashai alias Tony Ashai of Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar

• Rifat Wani of Trehgam, Kupwara

Authorities said the accused were actively spreading content prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, with a clear intent to fuel unrest and promote a secessionist agenda. After warrants of arrest were issued, all three went underground and are currently absconding.

Taking serious note of their evasion, the Special NIA Court has directed the accused to appear before it on or before 31 January 2026. Failure to comply will lead to proceedings under Section 83 CrPC, including attachment of property.

Despite being declared absconders, officials said the accused continue to remain active on social media, allegedly persisting with hostile and provocative propaganda aimed at destabilising peace in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Counter Intelligence Kashmir has reiterated its resolve to act firmly against all forms of anti-national propaganda and digital subversion, warning that such unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly under the law.
