Two drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla; 964 grams of heroin-like substance seized
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Police on Tuesday said they have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla district and recovered 964 grams of heroin-like substance during a targeted operation near the GMC Baramulla parking area.
Police said the operation was conducted around 7:00 PM on Monday and was carried out under the supervision of SSP Baramulla, ASP HQ Baramulla Neha Jain (IPS) and SHO Baramulla Insp. Owais Geelani.
The arrested individuals were identified as Sobiya Bano (29), daughter of late Mohammad Sadiq Khan, and Tahir Ahmad Khan (26), son of Amar Zaman Khan — both residents of Trikanjan, Boniyar.
Police said two packets weighing 424 grams and 540 grams were recovered from them, totalling 964 grams of heroin-like substance, valued at around Rs 1 crore in the illegal market. Two mobile phones and a Tata Punch (JK05L-7844) were also seized.
A case under FIR No. 214/2025 U/S 21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Baramulla. Further investigation is underway.
Police urged the public to share information related to drug abuse or peddling in their areas to help curb the menace. — (KIMS)
