Govt orders inquiry after woman dies of alleged medical negligence in Anantnag

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A young woman died due to alleged medical negligence at the Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Anantnag district on Monday.

Reports said 24-year-old Khushboo Jan, wife of Zubair Ahmad Bhat of Poshwara, Anantnag, was admitted for delivery. She underwent a surgical procedure and was later shifted to the ward, where her condition deteriorated and she died soon after.

Following the death, her family members along with locals staged a protest against the hospital authorities, alleging negligence by the doctors.

Taking note of the incident, the government ordered an inquiry and appointed Prof. Dr. Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed probe into the December 8 incident.

The order further states that Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, will assist the Inquiry Officer during the probe.

The Inquiry Officer has been asked to submit a detailed report along with recommendations within 14 days from the date of issuance of the order. — (KIMS)
