Shopian Police Tighten Crackdown on Illegal Mining; Four Tractors Seized, Two FIRs Registered

In a determined effort to curb illegal mining, Shopian Police have booked three Tractors, involved in unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from Reshnagri area.

Three Tractors, were seized by Police Post Reshnagri operating without valid royalty documents. In this connection FIR No. 49/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Heerpora and investigation taken up.

Similarly, one Tractor were seized by Police Post Berthipora, operating without valid royalty documents. Accordingly, FIR No. 43/ 2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Keller and investigation initiated.

Shopian Police remains committed to protecting the district’s natural resources and reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards illegal mining.
