Pakistan’s Foreign Office Condemns “Unprovoked Aggression” by Afghan Taliban Along Border

In a statement, the Foreign Office said such actions were aimed at destabilizing the fraternal relations between the two neighboring countries. The statement added that Pakistan had effectively repelled the attacks and inflicted “heavy losses” on Taliban forces and their allied groups, also destroying several installations used for facilitating terrorist activities against Pakistan.

The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s targeted operations were carried out with maximum caution to avoid civilian harm. It reiterated that Pakistan believes in dialogue and diplomacy, and values mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan.

“Pakistan is closely monitoring the situation and will take all necessary steps to protect its people,” the statement read. “Any further provocation will be met with a strong and decisive response.”

Referring to the acting Afghan Foreign Minister’s recent statement during his visit to India—where he denied the presence of terrorist elements in Afghanistan—the Foreign Office rejected the claim as “baseless.”

“By making such unfounded statements, the Taliban government cannot evade its responsibilities toward regional peace and stability,” the statement asserted. “The presence and activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan have been clearly documented in UN monitoring reports.”

The ministry added that combating terrorism is a shared objective, urging the Taliban government to honor its commitments and prevent its soil from being used for cross-border terrorism.

Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding support, the statement noted that Pakistan has hosted over four million Afghan refugees for more than four decades. It said Islamabad will continue to regulate the presence of Afghan citizens in accordance with international laws and principles.
