J&K Govt Orders Major Police Reshuffle: 7 IPS and 14 JKPS Officers Transferred

Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced a major reshuffle in the police department, affecting several senior IPS and JKPS officers across the Union Territory. The transfers and postings have been made “in the interest of administration,” as per Government Order No. 484-Home of 2025, issued by the Home Department.
According to the order, Abdul Ghani Mir, IPS (AGMUT:1994), who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as the Commandant General, Home Guards, Civil Defence, and SDRF, J&K, relieving Alok Kumar, IPS, of the additional charge.
- Mohd. Yaseen Kichloo, IPS (AGMUT:2013) — Transferred from SSP CICE Jammu and posted as Principal, STC Talwara.
- Shobhit Saxena, IPS (AGMUT:2015) — SSP Kathua, now posted as SSP Security, J&K.
- Tanushree, IPS (AGMUT:2017) — SP SIA Headquarters, transferred and posted as SSP Pulwama, replacing P.D. Nitya, IPS.
- Sahil Sarangal, IPS (AGMUT:2017) — Posted as SSP Handwara, succeeding Mushtaq Ahmad.
- Mohita Sharma, IPS (AGMUT:2017) — AIG Provisions, now appointed as SSP Kathua, replacing Shobhit Saxena.
- Anayat Ali Choudhary, IPS (AGMUT:2017) — Posted as SSP Kulgam, replacing Sahil Sarangal.
In the JKPS cadre, several officers have also been reassigned to strengthen operational and administrative efficiency:
- Mohd Arif Rishu — Posted as Director, CTC Lethpora.
- Benam Tosh — Appointed Deputy Director, SKPA Udhampur.
- Harmeet Singh Mehta — Posted as Commandant, 13th IR Battalion.
- Javid Iqbal — Appointed as AIG, Counter-Terrorism & Intelligence.
- Mohd Fiesel Qureshi — Assigned as SSP, Economic Offences Wing, Jammu.
- Ramnish Gupta — Posted as SSP, CICE Jammu.
- Aijaz Ahmed Zargar — Posted as SSP, Bandipora.
- Mushtaq Ahmad — Appointed as SSP, Shopian.
Officers Awaiting Postings Assigned New Roles:
Several officers who were awaiting postings — including Ashiq Hussain Tak, Owaise Rashid, Sarfaraz Bashir Ganai, Gh. Mustafa Bhat, Shahzada Kabir Mattoo, and Ashish Gupta — have now been assigned to various battalion-level positions in the IRP and JKAP units.
The reshuffle order, signed by Chandraker Bharti, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, takes immediate effect, marking one of the largest police-level reorganizations in recent months.
This administrative restructuring aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and field performance within the Jammu and Kashmir Police, ensuring smoother coordination between law enforcement units across the Union Territory.
