UT-Level Conference on Anti-Human Trafficking Held in Srinagar, Organized by Crime Branch J&K
Srinagar, Aug 21 (ANN): To strengthen the fight against human trafficking in the digital era, Crime Branch Headquarters J&K, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, organized a one-day UT-level conference on Anti-Human Trafficking today at Tagore Hall, Srinagar.
The event, aimed at raising awareness among students and the general public about human trafficking and its social impact, was inaugurated under the supervision of DIG Crime Branch J&K and overall guidance of IGP Crime Branch J&K, Sh. Sujit Kumar, IPS.
The conference was graced by the presence of Sh. S.J.M. Gillani, IPS, Special DG Coordination PHQ J&K, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the urgent need for society to unite and help the police in combating the menace of trafficking.
Prominent officers including Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS, ADGP Fire & Emergency Services J&K, Sh. Uttam Chand, IPS, IGP HQRS PHQ, senior police officials, judicial officers, representatives from Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Labour Departments, NGOs, Border Security Force (BSF), and nodal officers of AHTU J&K, attended the conference. Students from the University of Kashmir, law faculty, and various schools also participated.
Expert trainers such as Sh. Rajesh Mani (Human Trafficking Consultant, India for Children) and Ravi Kant, Advocate Supreme Court of India, Founder Shakti Vahini and National Convener, Just Rights for Children, shared their expertise and strategies to prevent trafficking and support victims.
The conference served as a platform for sharing experiences, suggesting effective measures, and presenting action plans through lectures and presentations. Mementoes were awarded to the Chief Guest and speakers as a token of appreciation.
At the conclusion of the event, Sh. Mohammad Fiesel Qureshi, JKPS, SSP SO to IGP Crime Branch, delivered a vote of thanks to all guests and participants.
