Imran Khan Accuses Army Chief Asim Munir of Targeting Wife Bushra Bibi in Alleged Political Vendetta

ANN Desk

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has publicly accused the country’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, of orchestrating a personal vendetta against his wife, Bushra Bibi. Speaking from Adiala Jail, where he is currently incarcerated, Khan alleged that Munir was directly involved in his wife’s imprisonment, claiming that the judge who convicted her admitted to being coerced into the decision.

Bushra Bibi, 49, was convicted in a corruption case and for an illegal marriage with Khan, 71. She is currently detained at their Bani Gala residence on the outskirts of Islamabad.

Khan’s allegations are part of a broader narrative he has maintained, accusing the military establishment of undue interference in political and personal matters. He has previously criticized Munir’s promotion to Field Marshal, sarcastically suggesting he should have been named “King of the Jungle” instead.

In a recent open letter to General Munir, Khan expressed concerns over the military’s involvement in politics and the treatment of political opponents, including the alleged harassment and rights violations against him and his wife. He warned that such actions were deepening public resentment towards the military and could have irreversible consequences for Pakistan’s stability and security.

These developments underscore the escalating tensions between Khan and Pakistan’s military leadership, highlighting concerns about the politicization of the judiciary and the rule of law in the country.
