Police arrests four drug peddlers in Srinagar

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In its solemn resolve against the menace of drugs, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar district of Central Kashmir on Wednesday and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

“Two individuals identified as Furqan Majid Khan @ Kanda, son of Ab. Majid of Kanipora, and Sameer Hussain Dar, son of Gh. Mohammad Dar of Chattergam, were arrested along with a substantial quantity of narcotic substances by a team of Police Station Panthachowk during naka checking at Zafran Colony,” the police said in a statement.

“Accordingly, a Case FIR No. 02/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Panthachowk,” the statement said.

“Similarly, two drug peddlers identified as Suhaibji Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat of Ganderbal, and Ubaidullah Lone, son of Ifhtikhar Ahmad Lone of Hanji Danter Anatnag, currently residing in Naz Colony Panthachowk, were traveling in a vehicle (Alto) bearing Registration Number JK16B-3205 and were arrested along with a significant quantity of contraband substances during naka checking at Zawoora Crossing,” the statement said.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 03/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered. Further investigation into both cases is ongoing to unearth the illegal narcotics network,” the statement said.

“Pertinent to mention here that Ubaidullah Lone is a chronic and known drug supplier in the vicinity, targeting the younger generation and resulting in the destruction of many lives,” the statement added.

“Initial investigation reveals that the drug supplier transports drugs from outside the UT, targeting local youth,” the statement ends. — (KIMS)
