DDC Srinagar Vice Chairman Among Eight Arrested

In a significant operation, Srinagar Police arrested Bilal Ahmed Bhat, Vice Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC) Srinagar, along with seven others on charges of illegal gambling.

 

 

The group was detained following a raid conducted under FIR No. 106, filed at the Ram Munshi Bagh police station, with authorities invoking Section 13 of the Jammu and Kashmir Gambling Act.

 

 

 

 

This section of the act strictly prohibits gambling activities and is part of broader efforts to curb illegal betting .

 

 

 

After the arrest, all accused were presented in court, where the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Srinagar ordered their transfer to the central jail.
