Cyber Frauds: Cybercrime Investigation Unit recoveres Rs 1,32,000 in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR (KIMS) — The Cybercrime Investigation Unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kishtwar district of Jammu division, said on Monday that they had solved a major case by recovering a defrauded amount of Rs. 1,32,000.

“The Cybercrime Investigation Unit resolved multiple online fraud cases, including mobile recharge scams, unauthorized third-party app installations, malicious Telegram links promoting fake Aadhaar card updates, and fraudulent trading apps such as Aviator, Happybet, 11winner, and Skywinner. In this recent breakthrough, a total of Rs. 1,32,000 was recovered,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.

“Since its inception, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit in Kishtwar has recovered Rs. 43,56,618 (forty-three lakh fifty-six thousand six hundred eighteen rupees) from various online scams, reaffirming its effectiveness and dedication to combating cybercrime,” the statement added.

The police have also urged the public in Kishtwar to remain vigilant against online fraud by avoiding suspicious links, unauthorized app installations, and sharing personal information online.

The police appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities to the National Cybercrime Helpline at 1930, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit Kishtwar at 9103416100, or PCR Kishtwar at 9906154100 / 9103454100.
