ACB arrests VLW for accepting bribe in Kupwara
KUPWARA: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a Village Level Worker (VLW) in Kukroosa Vilgam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for processing his case for release of final installment under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Scheme.
An official said that following a formal complaint against the accused, a trap team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) rank officer was constituted.
The team laid a successful trap and caught the accused employee namely Nazir Ahmad, Village Level Worker (VLW) of block Vilgam while demanding and accepting the bribe money of ?20,000 from the complainant Mohammad Akbar Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Harkpora, Kukroosa Vilgam.
“The bribe amount was recovered from the possession of accused VLW in presence of independent witnesses, following which he was immediately taken into custody after following due process of law,” he added.
