Weather Alert: Another Major Snowfall Forecasted for Kashmir from March 01
Srinagar, Feb 23: Following a brief respite, Kashmir braces for another spell of heavy snowfall, as announced by the Director of the Meteorological department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad. Beginning March 01, a moderate wet-spell is anticipated to sweep across Jammu and Kashmir, persisting till March 03.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad emphasized that while no significant weather activity is expected until February 26, light to moderate rain and snowfall are anticipated across various regions on February 27 and 28. Additionally, isolated instances of precipitation are likely on February 29.
The Meteorological department is set to release precise details of the forecast in the coming days. In light of the forecast, the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) has issued a low danger level avalanche warning across six districts.
Travelers and tourists are urged to adhere to advisories issued by the administration and traffic police, especially considering heavy snowfall projections in middle and higher reaches. Residents in hilly areas are advised to avoid avalanche-prone and sloppy terrains, while closely monitoring avalanche warnings and advisories.
