2 drug peddlers held in Handwara: Police
Srinagar, Jul 14 : Jammu and Kashmir Police in Handwara have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A Police party of PS Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Tarathpora-Hafrada Crossing, intercepted two suspicious persons, who attempted to evade the police party but was apprehended tactfully, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
They have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir @Inam son of Mohd Maqbool resident of Tarathpora and Ayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Kamal resident of Hurdoona. During search, 50 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 75/2023 was registered at PS Vilgam and investigation has been initiated.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said—(KNO)
