Omar blames Mehbooba for NIA trap against Mirwaiz, reiterates demand for AFSPA revocation
Srinagar: National Conference (NC) Vice President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday blamed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti for NIA trap against Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq and reiterated demand for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) the way it was revoked in Arunachal Pradesh.
Talking to reporters after addressing an election rally at Kupwara, Omar Abdullah said that NIA filed an FIR against Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq in 2017 when Mehbooba Mufti was Chief Minister and so she (Mehbooba) alone is responsible for the notices NIA is sending to Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq.
Reiterating demand for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Omar said AFSPA should be revoked in Jammu and Kashmir the way it was revoked in Arunachal Pradesh.
Saying that article 370 has been worst hit by implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Omar dared Mehbooba Mufti to prove that National Conference has even once extended such a law to the state which has damaged Article 370 anytime in any way.
