9 injured in gas cylinder explosion in Kupwara sub-jail

Kupwara, Jun 19 : At least nine persons were injured due to a gas cylinder blast inside sub-jail in Kupwara district on Wednesday, officials said.

An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the blast occurred inside the kitchen of the sub-jail, resulting in injuries to nine persons, wha have been shifted to sub-district hospital Kupwara.

In-charge medical superintendent, Dr Iqbal said that at around 6 pm they received information about burn injuries to several persons inside the sub-jail, following which they sent a team.

“We dispatched a medical team promptly to the site and after administering first aid, the injured were refered to Srinagar hospital for further treatment”, he said.

The official added that two persons have been grievously injured, while condition of the rest is stable—(KNO)
