8 Quintals Of Illegally Procured Rice Seized In Budgam, 4 Arrested: Police
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district foiled a black-marketing attempt by seizing 800 Kgs of rice meant for government ration depots and arresting four persons involved in the commission of crime.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police in a press release said, A vehicle (load carrier) bearing Chassis Number BBXWRC66797 was intercepted by a Police party of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Arath Crossing of the district.
Three persons were on board and they have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone, son of Ab Rashid Lone, Ab Qayoom Bhat son of Sonaullah Bhat — both residents of Singhpora Pattan and Ab Majid Wani, son of Ghulam Rasool Wani, resident of Arath Budgam, the press release said.
During search, Police party recovered 16 sacks containing 50 Kg of rice each. During preliminary questioning, it surfaced that they had bought the rice from a fair Shop at Arath which is run by Gh Nabi Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani resident of Arath Budgam, it said.
All the four accused persons have been arrested and the vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized, it added.
Accordingly, a Case vide FIR No. 41/2024 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated. — (KIMS)
