30 Foreigners among 100 militants active in South Kashmir: Army
Srinagar, July 17: A top army official on Friday said that there are around 100 militants active in southern region of Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at Qazigund, Sector commander 9 RR, Brigadier V S Thakur while talking to media said, “Forces had been succeed in South Kashmir for killing large number of militants.
He said there are around 100 militants active now in southern region of Kashmir. Among the 100 militants active in the region 30 are foreigners.
Talking about yatra Army commander said militants will likely choose national highway to target yatra, but security forces is ready to takle every situation.
The army commander also appealed the youth shun the path of violence.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said that top Jaish-e-Muhammad commander, who was among the most wanted 12 militant list is among the three militants killed today in the encounter at South Kashmir’s Kulgam.
The police identified the slain Jaish commander as Waleed Bhai, who was the IED expert and had escaped from the cordon four times so far. (KINS)
