J&K Muslim Personal Law Board to commences meeting in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 1: The J&K Muslim Personal Law Board has commenced its session on the 29th of Ramadan, May 1, to sight the Eid-ul-Fitr moon in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting presided over by J&K Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam is taking place in Srinagar.
The meeting would gather witnesses from across the J&K and announce decision accordingly.
“The meeting for moon sighting commenced around 7 pm in Srinagar. All the members (Ulemas) of committee are participating in the meeting,” said insider.
“Under Islamic law, the two testimonies by the man of integrity, honest and God fearing person are sufficient to announce the commencement of new Islamic month Shawwal,” said an Islamic Scholar.
