2018: A Deadliest Year In Kashmir’s History, 586 Killings Witnessed
Srinagar: The Year 2018 proved to be one of the deadliest years in the history of Jammu and Kashmir as 586 Killings were Witnessed in this year.
A total number 267 Militants,160 Civilians and 159 Forces Personal were killed in the year 2018.
In 2018, highest number of gunfights were witnessed in Kashmir valley in which 15 Top Militant Commanders belonging to different Militant outfits including Hizb-ul- Mujahadeen, Lashker-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind were Killed. The Top Commanders including Saddam Padder, Sameer Tiger, Altaf Kachroo, Umar Ganie, Azad Malik, Naveed Jatt, Soliha Akhoon, Manan Wani etc.
Kashmir Valley also saw large number of civilian killings in the 2018. A total number of 160 civilian were Killed in forces action in Kashmir valley which is the highest number in the Decade. South Kashmir districts saw highest number of 85 civilian killings followed by North Kashmir and Central Kashmir with 24 & 13 killings.
Besides killings large number of pallet injures were also witnessed in Kashmir valley in the year 2018. The Persons who suffered pellet Injured include the youngest pellet victim “18 Months old Hiba Jan from Shopian district”.
159 Government firces including Jammu Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force, Rastriya Rifles, Special Operation Group etc were also killed in encounters with militants and in militant attacks in Kashmir valley in 2018.
