19 mega road, tunnel projects worth ₹10,637 crore approved in J&K; LG expresses gratitude to PM, Gadkari
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a major infrastructure push for Jammu and Kashmir, the Central Government has approved 19 mega road and tunnel projects worth ₹10,637 crore.
The announcement was made by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in a post on X, where he expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for the significant move.
Major projects include the construction of the Peer-Ki-Gali tunnel, Sadhana tunnel, Zaznar-Shopian section of NH-701A, a four-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora, Trehgam-Chamkote section of NH-701, a four-lane Magam flyover on the Narbal-Gulmarg route, Qazigund Bypass, and several others.
“These strategically important projects will not only enhance troop mobility and logistical support but also boost connectivity to key tourist destinations,” said LG Sinha.
He added that the new tunnels will ensure all-weather connectivity, reduce travel time, and contribute to the economic growth of the Union Territory. — (KIMS)
