16 booked in Shopian for defying prohibitory orders over Coronavirus outbreak
Shopian: Police have booked sixteen persons for allegedly violating the prohibitory orders imposed in this south Kashmir district to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus disease, officials said on Monday.
The district magistrate has imposed restrictions under Section 144 to prevent an assembly of five or more persons in a bid to control the spread of coronavirus.
SSP shopian, Amrit Paul Singh, said all the sixteen persons violated the magistrate’s order and action has been taken against them.
“In this regard, two FIRs have been registered – one at police station Shopian (35/20 u/s 188,269,271 IPC and another at police station Keller (FIR no. 8/20 U/S 188 IPC),” said a police spokesman, in a statement.
The SSP said the police have been constantly making announcements appealing people not to come out of their houses unnecessarily and adhere to the health guidelines.
