15 Gallantry Medals Among 27 Awards for J&K Police on Republic Day 2025

On the occasion of Republic Day 2025, the Jammu & Kashmir Police has been recognized for their exemplary service with a total of 27 prestigious awards, including 15 Gallantry Medals, 2 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service, and 10 Medals for Meritorious Service.

The honors reflect the dedication and valor of the police force in maintaining peace and ensuring security in the region. The awardees include some of the top-ranking officers and brave personnel who have demonstrated exceptional service and courage.

 

1.Gallantry Medals (GM):

Recognizing acts of bravery in the line of duty, the following personnel were awarded Gallantry Medals:

•Azhar Rashid, Deputy Superintendent of Police

•Maajid Afzal Wani, Head Constable

•Safeer Lone, Constable

•Shahnawaz Ahmad Deedad, Constable

•Suresh Kumar Bhat, Assistant Sub-Inspector

•Aqib Qayoom Yatoo, SgCT

•Manzoor Ahmad Bajard, SgCT

•Vijay Kumar, IPS, Inspector General of Police

•Rakesh Balwal, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police

•Iftkhar Talib, Superintendent of Police

•Faroz Ahmad Dar, Assistant Sub-Inspector

•Sudish Singh, Head Constable

•Pawan Kumar, Head Constable

•Irshad Ahmad Lohar, SgCT

•Late Himayun Muzzammil, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Posthumous)

2.President’s Medals for Distinguished Service (PSM):

For their outstanding contributions to the force, the President’s Medals were awarded to:

•Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police

•Nitish Kumar, CID Chief and former IGP Kashmir

3.Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM):

Recognizing dedicated service and significant contributions, 10 police personnel were honored with the Medals for Meritorious Service.

 

Among the recipients, Anand Jain and Nitish Kumar stand out for their impactful leadership and commitment. Vijay Kumar, a highly decorated officer, and Rakesh Balwal, known for his significant contributions during his tenure, also received Gallantry Medals.

The posthumous recognition of Late Himayun Muzzammil, Deputy Superintendent of Police, highlights the sacrifices made by the force in safeguarding the nation.
