1.5 million Tulips, flowers await visitors as garden opens on March 23
Srinagar, Mar 17 : Asia’s largest tulip garden is all set to open for visitors with 1.5 million flowers, tulips the highlight among them, on spectacular show. On March 23 the gates of the garden will be thrown open for visitors, Director Floriculture, Farooq Ahmad Rather, said on Thursday.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he said that at least 1.5 million flowers, especially tulips, are in bloom this year at the Srinagar garden. The other prominent flowers that will be in bloom comprise daffodil, muscaries, hyacinth, he said, besides various flowering trees like Macedonia, Forsythias, Apricots, Ornamental Peaches and others.
The Director Floriculture further said that the department has taken steps to make adequate arrangements for the opening day. He stated that all the Covid related guidelines issued by the District Development Commissioner (DDC) will be followed in letter and spirit.
Spread over an area of about 30 hectares, the Tulip Garden in Srinagar was opened in 2007 to boost tourism in Kashmir Valley—(KNO)
